Two family members have been hospitalised after a gang of armed men stormed their home in Bendigo, in regional Victoria.

Police believe up to six masked men, armed with steel bars and Tasers, entered the Laurie Court home by an unlocked door just after 10pm.

“All we could hear was screaming and swearing,” neighbour Alyssa Connor told 9NEWS.

Jake Pythie, 21, had a Taser deployed to his groin and suffered head injuries before his mother and step-father Simon Elliott chased the thugs out of their California Gully home..

Mr Elliot, 42, was knocked to the ground by one of the offenders and struck in the head with a metal pole.

He and Mr Pythie remain in hospital.

9NEWS understands Mr Pythie’s mother, who has requested to remain unidentified, returned to the house today to collect belongings.

She said she “can't understand” why her family was targeted and fears the attackers may return.
