Police search for weapon after car crash victim found with gunshot wound
Police are searching parklands for a weapon after a man was found with a gunshot wound after crashing his car into a tree in Melbourne's north.
9News understands a Toyota 86 was being trailed by another vehicle on a Roxburgh Park street when shots were fired into the Toyota about 7pm yesterday.
The car then veered through a park oval fence then smashed into a tree near the corner of Donald Cameron Drive and Bridgewater Road.

The driver of the Toyota, a 30-year-old Reservoir man, was taken to hospital with critical injuries, including a gunshot wound to his leg, as well as injuries suffered during the crash.
A 26-year-old female passenger from Kalkallo was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the crash.
Police are now searching for the weapon in nearby parklands with the help of the dog squad.
The gunman remains on the run.

Police believe the shooting was a targeted incident, but the investigation into the circumstances are ongoing.
