Firefighters battled the blaze and found the body of a 62-year-old man inside the home.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, however initial investigations by firefighters suggested it may have started in the kitchen.

The retirement village is located on the Bruce Highway Eastern Service Road.

A separate fire also gutted a home about Beachmere just before 6am today. Paramedics assessed a 73-year-old man at the scene but he did not need to be taken to hospital.
