A man has been charged after he allegedly touched a teenage girl in a sexual manner on a train in Sydney's north-west last year.

The 16-year-old girl was allegedly sexually touched multiple times on a train between Marayong and Quakers Hill by a man she didn't know on December 2.

During the alleged assault, the girl tried to avoid the man by moving through the train however he allegedly followed her before he got off at Quakers Hill.

Following extensive investigations, police arrested a 19-year-old man from a home on Faye Street in Seven Hills on Thursday in relation to the assault.

He was taken to Riverstone Police Station where he was charged with sexually touching another person without consent.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear in Blacktown Local Court later this month.
