A Canberra man faces a long stint off the road after he was allegedly caught drink driving by police twice within 24-hours.

Police said the man was driving a purple Mazda 2 when he was first pulled over during a traffic stop on Batman Street in Braddon about 12.10pm on Saturday.

He returned a positive result after undertaking a roadside breath test, and was taken back to the police station, where he allegedly blew 0.180, more than three times the legal limit.

The man was suspended from driving for 90 days.

About 11 hours later, the 33-year-old was pulled over by police on Cooyong Street, Braddon, after they noticed him driving around in the same purple Mazda 2.

He undertook and failed another roadside breath test, before he was taken back to the police station.

The man returned a breath analysis of 0.096, close to twice the legal limit.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of drive motor vehicle with alcohol in blood, and a single count drive while suspended.

The 33-year-old Braddon man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
