Man charged after ferocious blaze at abandoned building in Sydney
A man has been charged after a ferocious blaze at an abandoned building in Sydney's west.
At least 23 fire appliances and more than 50 firefighters worked to put out the fire at the intersection of Good Street and Parramatta Road in Granville about 3.45am on Tuesday.
The road was shut as crews battled flames as high as 10 metres to prevent the fire spreading to vacant shops next door.

Firefighters were unable to enter the premises and instead used aerial platforms to extinguish the flames. Fire and Rescue NSW
"NSW Police and Fire Investigators will work together to determine the cause of the fire," FRNSW said in a statement.
The charred building was deemed structurally unsound and will be brought down.
A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Granville Police Station, where he was charged with damage property by fire/explosive.

A man has been charged and formally refused bail. Fire and Rescue NSW
He was refused bail and faced Parramatta Local Court yesterday, where bail was formally refused.
He will appear before court again next week.
