Man accused of storing stolen car used in Sydney murder plot

Detectives have charged a man allegedly involved in storing stolen cars used in crimes by criminal networks across Sydney, including one linked to a gangland murder plot.

One of the cars the man is accused of storing is believed to have been used in an alleged carjacking and conspiracy to murder a "rival" in an escalating gang war between two families in south-west Sydney.

Samuel Rokomaqisa was arrested on September 17 at a home in Granville, accused of plotting to murder Ibrahem Hamze.

Hamze is the brother of underworld figure Bilal who was shot dead outside a Japanese restaurant in Sydney CBD in June.

The alleged hit was planned for August 14, when police tried to stop a Mercedes on Walker Street in North Sydney. After a short chase, the car was later found abandoned on Miller St in Cammeray.

The next day, detectives searched a garage in Cammeray.

They allegedly uncovered a criminal syndicate involved in the subletting of garages, which police believe were used to store stolen motor vehicles used in crimes.

Yesterday morning, detectives searched a home at Wentworthville, in Sydney's south west and seized documentation, electronic devices, and a machete.

Both a man and a woman and three detectives were injured during the search when the pair allegedly resisted the search.

A 19-year-old man was arrested and taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment to a head injury.

A 45-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station, before being transported to Westmead Hospital for further assessment.

The man has been charged with seven offences including assaulting a police officer and knowingly facilitating organised car rebirthing activities.

He was refused bail and it set to appear at Fairfield Local Court today

The woman was charged with two counts of resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty.
