Lennox Head locals wake to their own ‘Sharknado’ experience

Fierce winds and rough waters along the east coast of Australia have spread debris along beaches, but residents in northern NSW were shocked this morning to find a shark washed up on the sand.

Measuring about four feet long, the shark was photographed by Lennox Head local Andy Leto.

"Good Morning Lennox Head from the Boat Channel. A photo Poss took this morning," Andy Leto's father Victor posted on Facebook today.

Since it was posted seven hours ago, the original photo has been shared 253 times, with a number of people likening it to the 2013 made-for-TV disaster movie Sharknado, where thousands of sharks are catapulted across Los Angeles by a freak hurricane.

"Not too sure what happened to it but NO definitely wasn't attacked by another shark," Mr Leto posted.
