Tree crashes into Brisbane school playground during violent storm

Students and parents were forced to run for cover when a wild storm hit a Brisbane primary school – bringing down a large tree during pick-up time this afternoon.

The tree fell into the playground of Bulimba State Primary School, a parent told 9NEWS.

“I was picking the kids up from school when the storm hit and had to seek cover under a building,” they said.

“The wind was terrifying.”

The tree let out a loud crack as it toppled over, they said.

The brief but intense storm also downed trees in other parts of Brisbane, including West End and Stafford, and has affected some public transport services and roads.
