Kylie’s AFL Grand Final show is almost here – here’s everything we know so far

Kylie lovers, rejoice! As someone whose very first concert was Kylie back in 2008, the MCG is in for a massive afternoon.

Our finest domestic export Minogue will headline the AFL Grand Final pre-game show, taking the stage at roughly 1.40 pm for a 20-minute set.

After almost four decades of chart-topping hits, one very big question remains: what legendary tracks will make the cut?

And, almost as importantly, what will she be wearing? Here’s everything we know so far.

Minogue is expected to pack between eight and 10 songs into her performance, with no shortage of bangers spanning her career.

Her Australian number one singles alone include The Locomotion, I Should Be So Lucky, Got to Be Certain, Confide in Me, Spinning Around, On a Night Like This, Can’t Get You Out of My Head, In Your Eyes, Slow and 2 Hearts.

Fan favourites include Better the Devil You Know, Love at First Sight, All the Lovers, and her 2023 hit Padam Padam.

Will the rain ruin Kylie’s performance?

Melbourne’s weather could throw another wildcard into the show, with the worst of the rain forecast around the same time Minogue is due on stage.

Rain itself is not considered a danger to performers, but a slippery stage could become a problem.

A contingency plan is understood to be in place if conditions deteriorate before Minogue’s performance, although exactly what that would mean for the show remains unclear.

Lightning is not expected to be a concern.

She’s almost bound to bring out a special guest or two – though who that might be remains under wraps for now.

What we do know is that Melbourne’s own G Flip will open for Minogue this afternoon, with the local musician barely containing their excitement on social media.

“Pinch me, I’m playing the Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment at the 2026 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

“Footy, music & being on the same lineup as KYLIE…lil G’s mind is blown.

“Go pies but this weekend it’s go freo,” G Flip wrote on Instagram.

Musical theatre performer Michael Paynter will sing the national anthem, while Mike Brady will deliver the traditional Up There Cazaly during the retiree motorcade.

And how’s Kylie feeling? She’s nervous!

Despite decades of performing on some of the world’s biggest stages, Minogue admitted ahead of the Grand Final she was feeling the nerves.

“I am nervous, excited right now. I am all those things,” she said during a pre-show press conference.

“When it comes to just about to go on, maybe I will feel right at home. I don’t know.”

The 58-year-old wrapped her mammoth 66-date Tension Tour last year and admitted the gruelling run took its toll.

“I think I crawled over the finish line,” she said, recalling dealing with extreme heat and high-altitude performances.

If she wants to pull out the big guns for her set list, which she undoubtedly will, one song feels like an absolute given for the MCG.

Earlier this year, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head became Minogue’s first song to reach one billion streams, 25 years after its release in September 2001.

This year she also celebrated the silver jubilee of Fever, her most successful album to date.

Minogue has another major run of shows ahead too, with the singer recently announced as an opener for Harry Styles during four concerts at Los Angeles’ Rose Bowl Stadium next April.

First, though, she takes on the ‘G’ - joining recent Grand Final performers Snoop Dogg (2025), Katy Perry (2024), KISS (2023), and Robbie Williams (2022).
