Aussie teen drowns in Bali after falling into pool while having seizure

An Australian teenager has drowned in Bali after she fell into a pool while having a seizure. 

Melbourne 19-year-old Kristen Mace was on a last-minute trip to the popular holiday destination.

The 19-year-old, who has a history of epilepsy, was walking alone beside the pool on Sunday morning when she had a seizure and fell in, family friends told 9news.com.au.

Her friend later found her dead in the water. Witnesses performed CPR on Ms Mace but were unable to save her.

Ms Mace's death comes just three weeks after her mother, Jodi, tragically died from complications from treatment for neck and head cancer. Her family had just had a funeral for the mum in Melbourne.

"The impact on the Mace family no doubt is indescribable," a family friend told 9News.com.au

"Kristen was an amazing girl and will be dearly missed by all.

"The circumstances over the last three weeks for the Mace family are beyond tragic."

Ms Mace's father has travelled to Bali to identify his daughter and arrange costs to repatriate her body. 

The former student of Firbank Girls Grammar School in Brighton would have celebrated her 20^th birthday tomorrow. 

Close family friends have organised a fundraising page for the family, which has raised more than $48,000 in 16 hours.

"Our entire community and friends is rallying around the family," Paul Pirrie said.

The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed to 9news.com.au they are providing consular assistance to the family but were unable to prove any other details.
