Koala castaway spotted onboard yacht in Victoria
While koalas usually find sanctuary in the Australian bushland, one furry native decided cruising on a yacht was more its style.
A Raymond Island yacht owner got a shock when she found the koala perched on a railing while sailing at Gippsland Lakes, Victoria.
Member for Gippsland Darren Chester shared the image of the koala in its new digs on Twitter this morning.
The koala found itself a perch on the railings of the boat. Twitter
"Koala stowaway? Raymond Island yacht owner discovered a new crew member this morning," Mr Chester said in the tweet.
"One of the locals attempting to get a free cruise on the magnificent Gippsland Lakes."
The current whereabouts of the koala is unconfirmed.
This isn't the first time a koala has been spotted far from home.
An Adelaide woman found a koala nestled among her frosted baubles and snowflake decorations on her Christmas tree last week.
