What the weather will be like over the King's Birthday long weekend

Millions of Australians are set to enjoy an extra day off over the King’s Birthday long weekend.

The annual public holiday will be observed on Monday, June 8 in NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory.

Queensland and Western Australia will mark the day later in the year.

Those planning to get out and about will be happy to hear that clear skies are expected across the three days, according to Weatherzone.

“The good news for those hoping to spend some time outdoors is that clear weather will dominate the country, with relatively mild daytime temperatures for June in many areas, after typically cool to cold nights,” Anthony Sharwood said.

Here’s what the weather will be like in capital cities around the country.

Sydney

Sydney residents can expect warmer than usual temps this long weekend.

A maximum of 20 degrees is forecast tomorrow and Sunday, exceeding the average June maximum of 17 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to drop by a few degrees on Monday.

There is also the chance of winds and a few showers in the NSW capital.

Canberra

Canberra can expect cool temperatures over the long weekend with a minimum of 0, 1 and 0 degrees tomorrow, Sunday and Monday respectively.

The maximum temperature in the nation’s capital could reach between 13 and 15 degrees over the three-day period.

Melbourne

Clear skies are forecast for Melbourne across the long weekend with maximum temperatures of 18 degrees expected on Saturday and Monday, dipping ever so slightly to highs of 17 on Sunday.

There is also the chance of a light shower on Saturday afternoon.

Darwin

Darwin can expect mostly sunny conditions with maximum temperatures a little more than 30 degrees across all three days.

Brisbane

Brisbane residents will enjoy maximum temperatures of 22 and 23 degrees for their usual weekend, with another 23 degree day for the return to work on Monday.

However, the city could see showers and southeasterly winds develop by Monday.

Adelaide

Adelaide residents can expect clear skies with the chance of a light, clearing shower tomorrow morning.

The temperature is forecast to hit highs of 17, 18 and 19 degrees from Saturday to Monday, respectively.

Perth

Perth residents heading out and about for their usual weekend are expected to enjoy maximum temperatures of 22 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.

Showers could move in later on Sunday ahead of a cold front next week as they return to work on Monday.

Hobart

The temperatures will be cool in Hobart over the long weekend but not as cold as the average June temps.

Maximum temperatures of 14, 17 and 17 are predicted from Saturday to Monday, exceeding the 12.1 degree average.
