Exclusive: Inside Josh and Elyse’s Melbourne home as the couple prepare for another auction
They've won The Block and now Josh Barker and Elyse Knowles are gearing up for another auction, and this time, it's their own home going under the hammer.
The property, in Coburg - an up-and-coming suburb in Melbourne's north - is very similar to their winning house on show.
The couple purchased the property in 2014 for $600,000.
"It's like a mini-me version of Elsternwick, obviously the California bungalow, we went with the traditional pillars, although we got canned for them,” Barker told A Current Affair during an exclusive tour of the home.
It took the couple around 18 months to renovate the home, a lifetime compared to the 12 weeks they had to makeover The Block house.
"With The Block, we put our best foot forward and 100 percent quality. You can kind of see elements in The Block that we have done here in our own home, you could say our home here in Coburg was a little bit of practice," Knowles said.
The property in Lascelles Street has been described as barefoot luxury.
Its best feature is a spacious outdoor-indoor entertainment area.
"It's probably the most important room in our house for us, we've got these beautiful electric blinds here, and we pump the fire in winter and sit out here and watch the footy,” Barker said.
David Wood, from Hockingstuart, believes the house will sell for well over $1 million.
"Our price representation is between 1.35 and 1.45 million dollars. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms and (the home) is on 500 metres of land, and there's car accommodation for five cars."
The couple is optimistic, but say they're even more nervous this time around.
"The Block was kind of a gift but this is reality. This is kind of a bit more stressful. It's fingers crossed all over again", Barker said.
The auction will be held on November 18.
You can see a full preview of the home in tonight's episode of A Current Affair on Channel 9 at 7pm.
