Joe Hockey expected to be appointed ambassador to US

Former Federal Treasurer Joe Hockey is expected to be announced as the new Australian ambassador to the United States tomorrow.

The announcement will happen tomorrow and the former member for North Sydney is expected to take up the post in January, 9NEWS understands.

Mr Hockey’s name has been floated in the same sentence as a possible Washington role for several weeks now.
