Jobs with the biggest wage jumps in 2023
Australians have had their first real wage increase since 2021 - but who benefited the most?
The wage price index lifted 4.2 per cent in the 12 months to December 2023. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, some industries did better than that - others, not so much.

16. Financial and insurance services
Wages grew by 3.2 per cent annually by December 2023.
15. Public administration and safety
Wages grew by 3.6 per cent.
14. Electricity, gas, water and waste services
Wages were up 3.7 per cent on the previous year.
12. Professional, scientific, and technical services
Workers saw remuneration lift by 3.8 per cent.
11. Arts and recreation services
Here, wages also lifted by 3.8 per cent.
10. Accommodation and food services
Wages in this sector increased by a neat four per cent.
8. Transport, postal, and warehousing
Along the supply chains, wages grew by 4.1 per cent.
7. Mining
Mining continues to grow, with wages up 4.1 per cent.
6. Construction
Construction also lifted pay by 4.1 per cent.
