Man arrested over Sydney woman’s death revealed to be partner

The elderly man arrested over the death of a 68-year-old woman in a northern Sydney home has been revealed to be her partner.

The woman's body was allegedly found with her throat cut by police earlier today after a distressed relative called emergency services.

A 77-year-old man at the scene was arrested and is speaking with police.

Officers said early indications were that the woman was killed in a domestic violence incident.

Neighbour Kathy said it was "pretty scary".

"You don't expect it in your own backyard," she said.

The investigation is continuing.

So far this year, 34 women in Australia have lost their lives in domestic violence incidents.
