Driver incinerated in horror high-speed crash in Inala

A man incinerated in a horror crash where a vehicle hit a tree and burst into flames south-west of Brisbane has not been identified.

Emergency services were called to Freeman Road at Inala about 6.30am today.

The vehicle, a maroon 2007 Mazda CX-7 with Queensland registration 560KNF, was engulfed by fire following the crash.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said the vehicle was "fully involved" when crews arrived and the driver could not be saved.

DNA testing and dental records will be needed to identify the driver. 

Witness Sereani Vereiano said onlookers rushed to driver's aid but were held back by the flames. 

"It was like a bomb, everything was flying away," she said.

"It started blowing everything away, the tree started burning."

Police are continuing inquiries to formally identify the man and are appealing for anyone with information about the man or the vehicle to come forward.

A Forensic Crash Unit investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
