Alleged ice supplier fled from police in '$4500 taxi ride'

A fourth man will front court over an alleged Sydney ice syndicate, with police having seized about $45 million-worth of the drug.

The latest arrest, of a 28-year-old Chinese national, was made in Melbourne on Friday with police saying he fled there by taxi - racking up a fare of nearly $4500.

The first arrest was made in Sydney's Haymarket on July 22 when police stopped a driver for talking on his mobile phone and allegedly found 3kg of methylamphetamine in his car.

The next day police stopped a 30-year-old man walking on Canberra Street, St John Park, with a suitcase, and upon searching him allegedly seized a further 10kg of what they believed to be ice. 

Just before 8pm that day, they searched a property on the same street and seized $1.4million in cash. A 21-year-old man was arrested at the home.

The 28-year-old man was extradited to NSW and charged with supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug.

He has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.

The three other men remain before the courts.

The investigations and three arrests were carried out by the Strike Force Cliftonville, part of the state-wide 'Dob in a Dealer' campaign which targets those manufacturing and supplying ice.
