Second man charged after filmed allegedly doing burnouts in Sydney

A second man has been charged after cars were filmed doing burnouts down a busy street at Brighton-Le-Sands, in southern Sydney.

Video shows a grey Nissan 200SX doing burnouts in the middle of the street, and police alleged yesterday that other vehicles were involved in the hooning activity.

Officers were called to reports of burnouts on Bay Street about 4.20pm on Sunday, and charged a 31-year-old man with dangerous driving about 11.30pm.

After speaking to witnesses and watching mobile phone footage, police alleged the grey Nissan performed a burnout for about 200m and narrowly avoided hitting other vehicles.

Earlier today, officers received more CCTV footage that showed a second vehicle – a silver Nissan 200SX – allegedly doing a burnout in front of the grey Nissan.

A 23-year-old man was charged with prolonged sustained loss of traction – or aggravated burnout – about 8.15am today, NSW police said in a statement. 

He had visited Riverwood police station at the request of officers, the statement said.

Both drivers have been granted bail and are expected to appear in Sutherland Local Court on December 3.
