Retail giant Harvey Norman has repaid the Australian Government more than $6 million in JobKeeper payments following months of public commentary around the ethics of accepting business supports while profitable.

In its full-year results released today, Harvey Norman noted that in August 2021, $6.02 million of wages support and assistance received in Australia had been repaid via the Australian Taxation Office.

The payment comes after months of speculation and attention around the retailer's decision to receive COVID-19 support while performing well during the pandemic.
