Schoolgirl fighting for life after excursion to Government House in Canberra
An 11-year-old girl is fighting for her life in an induced coma after a branch fell on a group of children during a school trip to Government House in Canberra last week.
Anais Betts, a student from Central Coast Grammar School, was critically injured when the branch fell just after 2.30pm on February 19.
Family and friends have confirmed that the Grade 6 student's condition remains uncertain as she remains in a coma, suffering from a severe head injury at Sydney Children's Hospital.

Anais has been described as a "bright, vibrant young girl with a love for swimming, slime making and bracelet empire building" whose "laughter has always filled the room".
Loved ones said the emotional and financial burden on the family had been overwhelming in an online fundraiser.
"At this moment, her condition remains uncertain, and both her medical team and family are facing significant concerns about her health," the fundraiser reads.
"(Her family) are facing mounting medical bills, travel expenses for visiting the hospital, and the need for additional support as they navigate this difficult journey.
"As she fights to regain her strength, we want to rally our community to show her and her family that we are never alone, especially within the thoroughbred industry."

The fundraiser urged the community to support the family during the "incredibly challenging time".
"Together, we can make a significant impact and show Shannon, Anais and her beautiful family the love and support she deserves as she battles through this incredibly challenging time," the fundraiser reads.
In the days following the incident, the school's principal Phil O'Regan said the girl remained in a critical condition and was under the care of a "specialist medical team".

It also said three other students had been taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries from the fallen branch but they had since been discharged.
"Our staff remain in contact with all Year 6 families, offering the care and assistance of our counselling and wellbeing teams and we extend our support to any other student requiring additional help," O'Regan said.
Central Coast Grammar is an independent school for years K-12 in Erina, 350 kilometres from Canberra.
