Person of interest in shooting of Gold Coast woman arrested on weapons offences in Victoria, police say

A Queensland man who police believe shot a woman in the back at a property on the Gold Coast earlier this month has been taken into custody in Victoria over separate alleged crimes.

Linley Anyos, 33, suffered "life-altering" injuries in the shooting at Trees Road in Tallebudgera on January 8.

Anyos has since been moved out of intensive care and onto a ward at Gold Coast University Hospital.

Detective Inspector Mark Mooney today said police would speak with her this week to determine what, if anything, she remembers from the incident.

Police believe she attended the property with a man driving a tow truck to remove items.

At some point, the man allegedly then shot her with an unlicensed, modified double-barrel shot gun, he said.

"Evidence indicates that he was the one that took the firearm to the scene," Mooney said.

"It could be accidental discharge of the weapon, could also be deliberate."

He said her injuries were "life-altering" and her recovery would be "long-term".

The weapon was found in grass at the property along with a spent cartridge, and has been sent to ballistics experts for investigation and testing, he said.

Mooney said police believe the man then drove to Victoria where he has been arrested on unrelated alleged weapons offences.

Mooney said, based on the offences, the man could be in custody in Victoria for several years before he could face charges in Queensland.
