Man stabbed in hand during attempted carjacking on Gold Coast

A man has been stabbed in the hand during an attempted carjacking on the Gold Coast.

The man was inside his parked car on Bundall Road in Bundall about 12.45pm today when he was approached by two men.

Police said one of the men was armed with a knife.

The pair allegedly threatened him and demanded his car keys before slashing his hand.

Police said the armed man stole his car keys before fleeing the scene in a white Holden Cruze. The other man fled on foot.

The victim told 9News he had been on the phone with his mum after a gym session.

He said he had left his home country for security in Australia.

A short time later, police said the Holden Cruze was seen driving dangerously through a Showcase Court car park before it crashed.

Police found a 41-year-old who was allegedly heavily intoxicated and slumped behind the wheel of the car.

A knife was found inside the car and the man was arrested.

No charges have been laid and the second man remains on the run tonight.

Police investigations are ongoing.
