Man flees police by jumping off Gold Coast balcony into swimming pool
A man has been caught on camera taking a flying leap off the fifth storey of a Gold Coast balcony in an attempt to escape police.
The video captured by shocked on-lookers shows the man on a balcony at the Canopy unit complex in Palm Beach before midday on Sunday.
Officers can be seen attempting to negotiate with the man, who police believe was under the influence of illicit substances.

Exclusive vision obtained by 9News showed the shocking moment he jumped off the ledge into the swimming pool below.
Neighbour Errol was left shocked.
"I've never seen anything like it," he told 9News.
The man was then caught on video running along nearby 24th Avenue.
Another witness, Seth, said the man - aged in his 30s - ran through his backyard as he fled authorities.

"I thought he needed help so I rang an ambulance.
"He was just going a bit crazy I think," the local father added.
Police caught up with the man late this afternoon when he showed up at his parents home.
No charges have been laid, as police continue their investigations.
The man is understood to have sustained minor injuries.
