Hero neighbour saves dog as car fires force Sydney residents to evacuate
Two people have been taken to hospital for smoke inhalation after a string of car fires in Sydney's north-west.
The fires also led to dozens of residents being evacuated from an apartment block on the Lower North Shore last night.
Fire crews were called to three cars in separate garages well alight on Person Street in Gladesville just after 10pm.

One of two people taken to hospital for smoke inhalation was Sean Brady, who ran inside the smoke-filled unit to save a family's dog.
"One of the neighbours (was) screaming out a name, I think it was Bowdie.
"She said, 'It's my dog' and I said, 'Where is he?'
"She said, 'He is up at the top of the stairs', so I went up.
"He was laying on the ground, he was whimpering, he was terrified, I carried him back downstairs through the thick black smoke."
NSW Fire and Rescue Superintendent Adam Dewberry said they were treating the fires as suspicious.

Fire crews were called to the scene just after 10pm to find the three cars in separate garages well alight. Nine
"We had three cars in three separate garages on fire underneath the unit block, and the unit block was heavily smoke-logged," Dewberry said.
"We escalated the response to include trucks... the fire was extremely hot and [it was] spreading rapidly along all the garages."
Up to 50 firefighters and 12 trucks were needed to bring the fires under control.
Dewberry described the fire as "unique" and said they would investigate how the fire started.
Fire Authorities are still working to identify the cause of the fire.
