Get Nicked: board games, Snapchat and other people's suffering

Get Nicked is loath to get involved with moralising about politicians' infidelity, but this was too much to ignore.

A leaked text message conversation showed NSW minister Matt Kean trying to initiate a lewd encounter with fellow MP Eleni Petinos.

But it began with Petinos telling Kean she was "playing a board game with my family".

Now, Get Nicked does not want to present themselves as a Casanova by any means, but the mention of the phrases "board game" and "family" should immediately be seen as red flags for anyone setting out to sext.

So shame on Kean for being a sleaze (especially given he was already in a relationship).

And frankly, shame on Petinos for texting during a family board game. It's a communal pastime, and she should be as bored with it as everyone else.

Marco Booooooo-bio

Imagine how incredible it must feel to have a huge room full of thousands of people cheering you.

Now imagine the opposite.

Republican Florida senator Marco Rubio appeared at a CNN town hall full of school shooting survivors and their supporters.

A bold move, but also stupid.

The audience channelled their rage towards booing and jeering Rubio, and rapturously applauded people criticising him.

You can't hit back at someone calling you "pathetically weak" when that person is the father of a schoolgirl who was killed just a week ago.

You can practically read every thought running through Rubio's mind the first moment he is booed, but perhaps the most obvious is this one: "I don't get to leave this stage for another two hours".

If jetpacks had just been invented, Rubio would have been the first person to volunteer testing it, just to get out of that room.

Snap shares

Social media platform Snapchat had $1.3 billion of its market share wiped out thanks to a single tweet from one of its most popular users, Kylie Jenner.

We should be surprised at Kylie's boredom. She is 20 years old now, which makes her officially too old for Snapchat.

But Get Nicked has to ask the question: does it count as insider trading if Jenner shorts Snapchat stocks then badmouths them on Twitter?

We don't know enough about insider trading or Kylie Jenner to tell.

Suffering prizes

The World Press Photo Foundation has announced its nominees this year, and as always, they are extraordinary photos.

But we can't help feel how uncomfortable it is to win a prize for capturing the moment of somebody's incredible suffering.

This photo is breathtaking, but it is also a picture of a Venezuelan protester on fire.

If Jose Victor Salazar Balza was aware of his surroundings as flames licked up his body, he'd probably be a little frustrated that the photographer was taking a prize-winning photo rather than stopping his flesh from burning.

Balza suffered serious burns to 70 percent of his body, but ultimately survived the ordeal.

Next time, we'd like to see more prizes given out for photographers who capture nice moments, like the enjoyment an old couple get from their first sip of tea, or a cow getting its head scratched in just the right place.
