Frozen remains in top spot at box office

Disney's family animation Frozen has cemented itself in top spot at the Australian box office, as The Book Thief makes solid ground.

After knocking The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug from first place, Frozen made $2.56 million at cinemas from last Thursday to Sunday this week, remaining ahead of the pack.

Starring Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush and based on the best-selling book by Australian author Markus Zusak, The Book Thief finished in second spot, earning $2.16 million, up one place from last week.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug fell from second position to sixth, with $1.74 million.

Starring Chris Pine, Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit debuted in third spot, taking $2.12 million.

Fantasy action movie 47 Ronin, featuring Keanu Reeves, premiered in fifth place, netting $1.77 million, while Ben Stiller's The Secret Life of Walter Mitty earned $832,948, slipping from fifth to eighth place.
