Melbourne primary school student fighting for life after being struck by car while cycling

A Melbourne primary school student is in a critical condition after being struck by a car while cycling in Frankston this afternoon.

The 10-year-old was riding on the Frankston-Flinders Road and Heatherhill Road when he was struck shortly before 4pm.

Ambulance Victoria received a call for help about 4.15pm and paramedics as well as an air ambulance was dispatched.

Paramedics treated the boy on scene for serious head injuries.

He will be airlifted to Melbourne for further treatment.

The driver of the car suffered minor injuries.
