Former Aussie tennis star Sam Groth has announced he will run for the Liberal Party in the 2022 state election.
The 34-year-old shared the news on Twitter today, confirming his application for endorsement to the party for the Victorian state seat of Nepean.

"Nepean is a great place to live, work and raise a family, and the pandemic has encouraged even more Victorians to call the Mornington Peninsula home," he said in a statement.
"This includes my wife Britt and I who are raising our young family in Blairgowrie.
"My background, discipline, career, media profile and community work, will give the Liberal Party a terrific opportunity to preselect a long-term Member of Parliament who will fight for Nepean every single day."

The Mornington Peninsula has been hard-hit throughout the pandemic with many businesses crippled by travel and COVID-19 restrictions.
Mr Groth last year said he believed it was time for a change in government.
The Victorian Labor Government was re-elected for a fifth time in 2018.
