Five teens charged after aggravated burglary in Melbourne

Five teenagers have been charged after an aggravated burglary in Melbourne overnight.

Police were initially called to Brighton in the city's south-east at about 12.20am following reports of a break in.

It is alleged the residents disturbed an intruder who ran from the home.

Police said one of the cars at the property, a 2015 Mercedes Tourer, was allegedly stolen.

"Police tracked the car to Yarraville where it was dumped in Yarraville Gardens," Victoria Police said.

"Five people were seen running from the vehicle before they jumped fences into backyards and various properties."

Four Bendigo teenagers, three boys and a girl aged 16 and 17, have since been charged with theft of a motor vehicle.

They have been bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date.

A 17-year-old Fawkner boy has been remanded in custody to appear before a children's court today.
