Emergency services have battled 11 fires in Adelaide's south overnight and say they may have been deliberately lit.

A shed and machinery were destroyed on a McLaren Flat property, while a blaze in the Onkaparinga Hills came within 50 metres of homes before being contained.

Police on Thursday said the first grass fire occurred about 12.50am (CDT) at Seaford Rise, near the waste depot, and led to the closure of Bakewell Drive before it was put out.

In the following three hours, emergency Services were called to about 10 more fires in the suburbs of McLaren Flat, Christies Beach, Onkaparinga Hills, Noarlunga and Morphett Vale.

No one was injured in any of the fires.

Police are investigating whether the fires are linked and if they were deliberately lit.
