Firefighters pull man from burning building in Sydney's south

Firefighters have saved a man's life after pulling his unconscious body from a burning building.

A man in his 70s was pulled unconscious from the burning home in Engadine, in Sydney's south, at 6.30pm on June 8.

A second crew of firefighters administered life-saving care, including CPR before the NSW ambulance arrived.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition by a NSW ambulance rescue helicopter.

Neighbours told firefighters that someone was inside the property when they arrived at the scene.

The blaze was quickly doused as they made their way into the single-story home on Dobell Road.

Investigators do not believe that the fire was suspicious and say it was likely caused by a heater placed too close to the furniture.

Firefighters do not believe the was a smoke detector in the home.
