Locals baffled after 'fireball' reportedly seen over Perth skies
An unidentified object seen streaking through the sky over Perth has social media abuzz as locals try to figure out the source of the mysterious sight.
At about 9.30am (AWST), the object sped through the sky to the northeast of Mindarie, according to one witness on Twitter.
9NEWS camerman Gerard Price was stopped at the intersection of Charles Street and Scarborough Beach Road in North Perth when his dash-cam captured the bright streak of light as it sped across the sky.
The light appears for just over a second, burning bright before vanishing above the horizon.
The "very bright" light left no smoke trail, according to witnesses.
Speculation is currently mounting on social media as to the origins of the bright light.
