Fans vomit when metal band throws blood in crowd

Metalheads seeing a Satanic rock band playing in New York have reportedly thrown up when a skull filled with blood was thrown into the moshpit.

Swedish band Watain were midway through their gig in Brooklyn when lead singer Erik Danielsson purportedly splashed the crowd with what was believed to be pig's blood using a replica human skull with horns attached.

Vice reports that soon after the blood was thrown into the crowd, the room "started to smell ungodly, like human flesh was actively putrefying in the room".

The smell caused people in the audience to start throwing up, Vice reports.

Police say no-one complained about the stunt.

Watain, whose last album went to number one in Sweden, have labelled themselves as theistic Satanists.
