NRMA introduces payment for electric vehicle charging stations

The NRMA's electric vehicle fast charging network will no longer be free, with a payment system to be rolled out across all stations.

From today, drivers using the Sydney Olympic Park, Picton and Wallsend charging stations in New South Wales will need to pay.

Over the coming months, the payment system will be rolled out over the state's 100 charging stations.

Costs will vary from 54 cents per kW up to 150kW and 59 cents per kW above 175kW for ultra-fast charging.

In order to charge at an NRMA charging station, drivers will need to download the My NRMA app and complete payment through it.

The NRMA electric charging network had been free since it was launched in 2017.

The network was rolled out in partnership with state governments.

Now it is expanding nationally as part of the national highway network, in collaboration with the federal government.

Once the payment system is rolled out across the whole network, a 10 per cent discount will apply for NRMA members.
