Elderly ute driver dies after crash with school bus near Toowoomba

An 82-year-old man has died after his ute crashed with a school bus at Nobby, a small town between Toowoomba and Warwick on the Darling Downs.

The crash happened about 3pm yesterday at the intersection of the New England Highway and Nobby Connection Road.

The elderly man was trapped in his ute and emergency services worked to free him.

He was then taken to Toowoomba Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

No children on the bus were injured.

Forensic crash investigators have been called in to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
