Early voters have momentous choice: PM
Malcolm Turnbull says it's a day of "momentous choice".
As early voting opens across the country, the prime minister is campaigning in Perth where he will meet with West Australian Premier Colin Barnett and attend a Liberal fundraising dinner.
"This is the first day Australians can vote in this election - this is a day of a momentous choice," Mr Turnbull told ABC radio on Tuesday.
Opposition Leader Bill Shorten told reporters in Perth up to 40 per cent of Australians could cast an early vote.
Mr Shorten will hand out how-to-vote cards in the seat of Perth on Tuesday.
"This election is a matter of choices and now Australians start to choose," he said.
"They can choose Mr Turnbull's $50 billion tax giveaway to large companies, banks and foreign shareholders or choose Labor's great plans for jobs, education and Medicare."
