Dutton declines to advise Europe on boats

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton is not about to offer European nations specific advice on how to stop asylum seeker boats and drownings at sea.
Europe is considering an emergency summit after the latest migrant boat tragedy in the Mediterranean in which 700 people are feared to have perished.
Mr Dutton told ABC radio on Monday the Australian experience showed boat turnbacks, where they are safe to do so, worked.

Former immigration minister Scott Morrison said boat tragedy in the Mediterranean was a chilling reminder for Australians about what was happening close to home not long ago.
"Maybe not at that scale but with the same horrific consequences," he told Macquarie Radio.
