Caravan graffiti appears hours after investigation announced

The investigation into a caravan filled with explosives is continuing as graffiti seemingly referencing the discovery was uncovered in Sydney's east.

The graffiti stating "you wanna buy a caravan?" was sprawled onto an electrical box outside the Diamond Bay bowling club in Vaucluse.

The club reportedly has a high number of Jewish members and is near a residential block of units where people from the community live.

It's believed the graffiti was painted on Wednesday night, just hours after NSW Police and Premier Chris Minns announced the discovery of the caravan in Dural, in Sydney's north-west.

The caravan was discovered on the side of Derriwong Road on January 19. Authorities said it had been dumped there for several weeks.

A satellite image taken on Christmas Eve shows what appears to be the caravan – believed to be the first time it was spotted on the road.

Police found documents inside the van indicating the explosives were going to be used in an antisemitic attack, including the address of the Great Synagogue in Sydney's CBD and the Jewish Museum.

Two people were allegedly named in a search warrant connected to the caravan. They were already in custody for other unrelated reasons when the discovery was made public.

One of those people has been identified as 34-year-old mother of four Tammie Farrugia, who was arrested last month after an alleged antisemitic attack in Woollahra, Sydney.

Farrugia had posted to TikTok last month trying to buy a caravan. Her boyfriend Scott Marshall was also identified.

A third man being held in Parklea Prison is also being questioned by police.

Meanwhile, police have stepped up patrols at the Great Synagogue, with Rabbi Benjamin Elton being advised to be cautious.

"My home has been examined for security, that's obviously very concerning and upsetting ... I'm the father of three young children," he said.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said it was "correct protocol" for him to not disclose when he was briefed about the discovery of the caravan.

"I addressed this yesterday, I have no intention of undermining an ongoing investigation by going into the details," he said.
