Couple's car rammed in road rage incident

A couple on the way to collect their children from school has been rammed by another driver, in a road rage incident on the NSW Central Coast.

Stephen Callagher and his wife were driving through the suburb of Blue Haven, when they crossed paths with their attacker.

"We beeped at him at the petrol station. Stopped in the middle road. Caused us to swerve around him," Mr Callagher said.

It was something so minor - a toot of the horn - but it revved up the other driver and turned him into a mad man.

The Callaghers continued on, and so did the other driver, in hot pursuit.

"I said to my wife - I think this guy is trying to hunt us down or the guy in front for beeping him," Mr Callagher said.

They began filming the aggressor with their smartphones thinking it would deter him.

But it had the opposite effect.

The other driver used his car as a weapon, ramming into Mr Callagher's car and likely writing it off.

Mr Callagher had a split-second to react after being rammed. His priority was to keep the car on the road, as they were heading towards a power pole.

They managed to get their car home. The other driver's car was also obviously badly damaged.

Wyong chief inspector Tim Winmill said police would like to speak to the other driver.

He was wearing a high-vis top and driving a 2012 Holden Commodore.
