Police in South Australia are targeting parents and carers driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol on the school run.

Officers tested drivers in school zones across the state during this morning’s drop-off.

Unmarked police cars caught many drivers by surprise as they were pulled over for testing.

Some motorists were also issued notices for defective vehicles.

Since 2015 when drivers were first tested in school zones, more than 200 people have been caught under the influence of drugs with children in their car.

Police say they are determined to clamp down on the offenders.

Officers will continue to target drivers in school zones during the morning drop-off and afternoon pick up.
