Man found dead on Melbourne street after 'tragic' home invasion
A man has been found dead on a Melbourne street after a home invasion early this morning.
Police located the 33-year-old man's body on Eildon Street in Doncaster around 5.30am.
It is understood that thieves broke into his unit on nearby Sargent Street before the resident gave chase to the burglars in his car.

He was found dead less than a kilometre from his home.
While he pursued them, his partner was on the phone to police.
Homicide detectives described the circumstances as "tragic" are investigating whether the man's horrific injuries were the result of being stabbed and then rammed by a car.
Laptops and shoes were stolen from the unit.
Forensic officers were observed examining the crime scene.
A small trail of blood could be seen on the road while a black Mercedes AMG was stopped about a metre away from the man's body.

No arrests have yet been made.
"Homicide Squad are actively engaging with anyone that was at the house at the aggravated burglary," Inspector Carrie Kohler said.
Since the body was discovered this morning, police have been going door-to-door speaking to locals to try and find out more information.
Kohler said it was a tragic set of circumstances for the community and the victim's family.
"I want to reassure the public that we have increased our presence within the community and we will continue to do so," she said.
"Our thoughts are with not only family, but with friends, and the community."
Police appealed for any information or CCTV footage that could assist their inquiries.
"Please get in contact with us," Kohler said.
A neighbour, who wanted to remain anonymous, said the residents of the house were "really nice people."
He claimed he saw a group of teens with torches loitering near the victim's home late last night.
CCTV footage has since been handed over to the Homicide Squad.
The coroner's office has been notified and police patrols in the area will be stepped up overnight.
