Donald Trump Jr fumes after president cut from Home Alone 2

A Canadian television network has defended cutting Donald Trump's brief cameo from the film Home Alone 2, after the president's son expressed his outrage on Twitter.

The now-president had a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance in the 1992 children's movie, but viewers watching it on CBC earlier this month spotted it had been cut out.

The edit infuriated Donald Trump Jr, who tweeted about it overnight.

"Pathetic," said the president's son.

But the president himself was not as offended.

"The movie will never be the same! (just kidding)," he wrote earlier this morning.

He also jokingly pinned the blame on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

CBC has defended its edit, saying eight minutes had been trimmed from the film to make way for ads.

The edit had been made for an earlier broadcast, before Mr Trump had become president.

Mr Trump's cameo is inconsequential to the film's plot, giving the main character directions to the lobby of the Plaza Hotel in New York.

At the time, Mr Trump owned the Plaza.

Several producers have stated that Mr Trump would grant access to his buildings as filming locations in exchange for cameos.

He has also appeared as himself in movies like The Little Rascals, Zoolander, Two Weeks Notice and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

He has also appeared on episodes of The Nanny, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Spin City, Sex and the City and Days of Our Lives, as well as three Playboy VHS tapes.
