Dozens of dogs saved from dog-fighting in Queensland raids

More than 50 dogs have been saved from an alleged dog-fighting ring after raids by the RSPCA across South East Queensland.

RSPCA Queensland inspectors and Queensland police searched two properties in Logan, one in Redlands and one near Richmond in northwest Queensland over the past week.

A total of 56 dogs were taken into care including several which the RSPCA believed had been used in dog fighting and others for which inspectors held welfare concerns.

Several items relating to dog fighting such as treadmills and breaking sticks were also seized.

The RSPCA says the operation is the “first major breakthrough” in 10 years.
