Body found in search for man missing in Hawkesbury River north of Sydney

A body has been found during a search for a man who went missing from a houseboat on the Hawkesbury River north of Sydney last night. 

The 18-year-old man went swimming about 8.30pm, but failed to return to the boat near Lower Portland, police believe.

His family contacted police a short time later, sparking a major search effort involving SES, NSW Marine Rescue and Air Ambulance personnel.

Police divers and PolAir joined the search this morning.
