Disability students worse off: teachers

Teachers claim school students with disabilities could be worse off under proposed federal government funding changes.

"We already have huge underfunding of disability in schools and further cuts would leave thousands more children without the resources they need," Australian Education Union president Correna Haythorpe said in a statement on Friday.

She was responding to an admission by Education Minister Simon Birmingham, who told a Senate estimates hearing this week that some states or sectors could be worse off under proposed changes to disability funding for schools.
