DD election could double Senate crossbench
AAP
A leading election analyst says a double-dissolution poll is likely to double the size of the crossbench in the Senate.
Senior government figures have poured scorn over reports the government is toying with the idea of dissolving both houses of parliament to overcome what Prime Minister Tony Abbott has described as a "feral" upper house.
The ABC's Antony Green says an election for all 76 senators would halve the vote quota needed to win a seat, potentially creating a crossbench of 16.
