Cue Clothing to close five stores as potential buyers circle collapsed brand
The receivers of embattled fashion company Cue Clothing have suddenly closed five stores as the search for buyers hots up.
Cue Clothing Co, the company behind Cue and Veronika Maine, collapsed into voluntary administration on Tuesday, and its lenders appointed Kate Warwick and Vaughan Strawbridge from FTI Consulting to manage three companies in the group.

It said a “difficult decision” had been made to shutter five stores in NSW, Victoria and the ACT from the group: Woden Cue, Parramatta Cue, Mosman Veronica Maine, Melbourne Central Cue and Armadale Cue.
“No concessions are included in the closures. The receivers will explore opportunities to re-deploy staff across the network where possible,” FTI Consulting said in a statement on Friday morning.
Cue and Veronika Maine operate 46 stores across Australia and New Zealand.
The receivers also say there has been strong interest in Cue from potential buyers.
“The receivers are continuing to trade the businesses as going concerns while running a sale process,” they said in the statement.
“There has been good initial interest from potential buyers in the sale process, highlighting the strong brand recognition and positive sentiment for Cue and Veronika Maine.
“Expressions of interest are anticipated in early October.”
Founded in Sydney in 1968 by Rod Levis, Cue began as a single Strand Arcade boutique inspired by London’s “mod” scene.

It quickly grew into an Australian household name, expanding into Myer department stores.
In 1998, Cue launched its sister brand, Veronika Maine, as a softer alternative to Cue’s sharp tailoring, made in the same Sydney studio.
After more than 50 years as a family-owned business, the company was sold to UK investment firm Hilco Capital in 2025, which put both brands up for sale in August 2026.
