Crane roll in Newcastle causes traffic delays and diversions

A crane has rolled over in Newcastle, blocking the road and causing traffic delays and diversions.

Motorists are being told to avoid Industrial Drive in Mayfield West after the rollover at Steel Rover Boulevard.

Westbound lanes are closed, with heavy vehicles being diverted but smaller cars now able to get past.

"Heavy vehicles are diverting via Werribi St, and light vehicles are getting past the scene of the crash in the breakdown lane," Live Traffic tweeted.

"However, traffic's heavy through the area, so it's best to use an alternative route & allow extra time."
